This is one of those books that could have been great if it wasn’t for some issues. Let’s break it down…

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for a review. The story was actually very good, although I thought it followed the tried and true “millionaire CEO with issues falls for an unsuspecting normal girl ” formula. The characters are fantastic , the sex scenes ( there’s a lot of them )  are über-hot and the story in itself is quite good, lively and full of vivid detail. JB3 is the Alpha in this story and had a very realistic background and personality. He is a lot more likeable than most, the bonus being he’s got a lot of kink in him.  Cassidy is a typical, relatable, strong and independent woman. There are a lot of other characters that complement the story perfectly, and make it fun to read.

There’s a lot of sex in this book, all of the scenes very well written and the BDSM-type parts are handled perfectly. Not too little, not too much. It does fall into a lot of clichés, but I didn’t find that it was necessarily a bad thing in terms of this particular book. There are some mysteries building up as the book goes along and it would be interesting to find out what happens , since the ending was not exactly a cliffhanger, but it does leave you with questions.

Ok, so we have a lot of kink, romance, hot guys ( there may or may not be bikers , police officers in a Magic-Mike type scenario , and CEO)  and lots of diverse sexual situations.

Just a note , there was a previous issue with the POVs jumping aroundand switching from paragraph to paragraph , and I was told by the author this was fixed . This was edited and revised , so the current revision should not have this issue.

Excerpt 1

“Cassidy, I’d like to take you to dinner.”  I choked on my cappuccino and started coughing uncontrollably.  He stood up and came back with a bottle of water.  He handed me the water as I was getting my bearings back.  “Is it that shocking that I’d ask you to dinner?”

I was a little dumbstruck.  “Um, well, I just, I…”

He sat down next to me and placed the bottle of water he just gave me on the table and took my hands in his.  “Cassidy, I know you felt it all those months ago.  I felt it too and I still do.  A day hasn’t passed that you haven’t crossed my mind.  There’s something here,” he motioned between our bodies.

I was looking at our hands and it was there, that electricity.  I looked to him and a shudder caused me to roll my shoulders.  My heart started racing and I clenched my thighs together trying to subdue the throb between them.  Before I could say a word he leaned in and tucked a loose piece of hair behind my ear.  He cupped my face and gently touched my lips with his own.

How many times had I fantasized about this very moment?  I accepted his kiss knowing that if Cecily found out I’d probably get canned.  Both of his hands were on my face lightly caressing.  His lips were gentle and felt better than I had ever dreamed.  I molded my lips to his and inhaled his sweet breath.  His tongue gently ran across my upper lip.  I slid closer to him and placed my hands on his lapels.  Our tongues began a torrid dance that had my entire body standing at attention.  It was a kiss I would never forget and one I never wanted to end.

I worked my hands up to his neck and to the tie holding his hair and couldn’t resist removing it.  I’d been dying to run my hands through his hair since that first night I saw him.  He encouraged me with a groan and started kissing my jaw while working his way back to my ear.

“James…we should stop,” but my actions betrayed my words as I dragged his mouth back to mine.

“Shut up, Cassidy.”

Before I knew it he pulled me into his lap.  I’m not sure how he managed it.  His hand was on my hip and I could feel his erection straining against my thigh.  I felt my own hair fall from its tie as he tugged on it gently.  It felt wonderful and I whimpered into his mouth barely aware of my phone ringing.  I slowly pulled my face away from his.  “Shit.  I have to get that.”

“Cassidy, let it ring.”

“It could be Cecily,” I pled as I tried to slide off his lap echoing his groan of disapproval.  I remained on his lap and strained to grab my phone.  I looked at the number not recognizing it so I sent it to voicemail.  “I don’t know the number.  If it’s important they’ll leave a message.”

I tossed the phone down on the couch beside us as he tightened his arms around me.  I needed to be closer to him so I repositioned myself.  I straddled his lap as his mouth assaulted mine.  I helped him out of his jacket as he started fumbling with the buttons on my blouse.  He rolled his hips and hit my core just right and made my stomach drop.  I moaned into his mouth and pulled his shirt out of his pants.

“You like that,” he whispered in my mouth as he continued rolling and grinding his hips into me.  I clung to him and began sucking his ear.  “You’re making me wild Cassidy.”

“Oh God, I’ve dreamed of this, of you for so long.”

“Fucking hell, I’m so sorry.”  We’d been caught in the act.

Red handed.

Excerpt 2

I slowly came to before the sun made its arrival.  Slowly, everything from the night before came back to me.  His arm was around me as he cradled me to his chest.  The warmth was almost insufferable.  I turned my head to find he was dead asleep.  I was suddenly overcome with panic and decided I had to get out of there.  I crept out of the hold of his stellar body and got off the bed with ease.  I didn’t want to risk waking him so I just grabbed my dress and shoes and made my way out of his room and down the stairs.  I found my purse on the kitchen island and headed for the door.

I nearly screamed I was so startled.  I rushed to the door, opened it and tip toed thru it just for it to slam shut.  I ran full force down the hall in nothing but his t-shirt with my arms full of my dress, shoes and purse.  I fumbled with my key and finally got into my room.  My door closed and I swore I heard another, “Cassidy!” booming down the hall.

“Shit, shit, shit.”  Why was I running from him?

I threw my dress and shoes to the floor and sank down the door.  My knees were pulled to my chest while I rested my head on them and then I felt my door shake like there was a gorilla pounding on it.  Bang, bang, bang!  My entire body vibrated against the force of him hitting the door.

“Cassidy, I know you’re in there.  Please open up.”

I pushed myself up the door and sighed.  I didn’t know what to say to him.  “Go away!”

“Cassidy Charles open this door.  You can’t run from me forever.”

“Yes I can!”  This was ridiculous.  We were acting like twelve year olds.

“Don’t make me call hotel security!  You let me in or I’ll let myself in.”

He wouldn’t dare, would he?  I decided to face him.  I opened the door yelling at him, “You wouldn’t dare!”

He was on me instantly.  I didn’t even have a moment to take in his appearance.  His arms were around my back as he lifted me off the floor.  He set me on the kitchen island.

“Why did you leave?  You scared me.”  He was holding my face in his hands.  “Cassidy, look at me.  You can’t deny the attraction between us.  It was there all those months ago and it’s still here.”

There was so much emotion surrounding my thoughts and feelings for him.  I was attracted to him like a fish to water the first time I saw him and still was.  Then it all went to shit in one night.  I looked in his eyes and saw that they were full of concern.

“I’m scared of what I feel when I’m around you.  You scare the hell out of me.”  He looked stricken and dropped his hands from my face.  “Not afraid of you, afraid of this,” I waved my hand between us.  “I’ve never been so drawn to someone.  You left me that horrible night without a word.  I didn’t know what to think.  Then you were arrested and I couldn’t process it.”

He pulled me to him and started talking into my hair.  “Baby, I didn’t leave you that night.  I never wanted to leave you.  I came back with our coffee and I saw you with a cop.  He was holding you and I got the wrong impression.”

“Wait, what?!  Calvin, you thought I was with…”  Now I was crying and laughing at the same time.  “Calvin is my brother.”  I pushed away from him just enough to look at him.

He wiped my tears and said, “I know, I found out a few days later when they were questioning me.”  He must have felt me stiffen.  “Cassidy, the charges were dropped.  You know that right?”  I nodded my answer and he embraced me again.  “I promise you I had nothing to do with what happened that night.”

“I spent months trying to hate you so I could get over you, but I couldn’t and I never even had you.”

“Baby, you had me, you have me still.  Last night was just confirmation Cassidy.”
