Review for Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters

Wow, how do I even begin reviewing this book? The first words that immediately come to mind are: Powerful, intense and stunning. There are no words that can accurately convey the depth of emotions that Pepper Winters submerged me in with Quintessentially Q. If you have already read Tears of Tess, QQ is infinitely darker. If not, you need to read it beforehand. Q and Tess’ story is slowly but surely taking roots and the love these two share is the type that most will never understand. The need to own, claim, inhale, in short, be one soul in two bodies. Tess , while some might not understand her emotional and physical needs, was a character that I fully related to. In every part of the book, Tess goes through so much, and she recalls past events as her life dwindles and she spirals into an abyss. The mental process she goes through as events unfold is absolutely brilliant. Q, while aloof and a bit cold in Tears of Tess, has a dramatic change in QQ. I adore him even more now. You see his soul, the way his mind works, and how dark he really is. This book is not for the faint of heart and I can guarantee without a doubt that it will push every button you have. Trust me when I say, every twist of your stomach, every tremor and shudder that will go through your body, every tear, will be worth it. QQ marked me in ways I still can’t fully describe. It is raw, dark, intense, powerful, and will probably submerge you to dark corners you never knew existed. This is actually a bit difficult to write because I find that words might be lacking to appropiately present to you what this masterpiece is. Both Q and Tess are fantastic characters , and the rest of the ones presented in QQ represent a whole array of different kinds of people. There’s good, bad, ugly, nasty, and great. The plot was detailed, clean and very well written. I know your nails will suffer, as did mine. With QQ, as with Tears of Tess, Pepper Winters made herself an unsurpassable writer in this genre.
It is also worth mentioning that author Ker Dukey wrote a very accurate and beautiful poem for both Q and Tess , which are broken down at the beginning of every chapter. Excellence!!

Here are a few excerpts:
“I ache to see your flesh bleed, scream for me, give me what I need,
let the rivers run, the monster inside has won” ~ poem by Ker Dukey
“I hated how even though I knew she was there on her own accord, I still wanted ultimate ownership. I wanted her chained and completely dependent on me. I wanted to feed her and bathe her. I wanted to be the very reason she stayed alive” ~Q
“the last moment of gentleness, I pressed my forehead against hers and breathed deep. “I’m lost.” Then the gentleness left, abandoning me to the hard-edged need to hurt.” ~Q

That’s what I felt for Q.
Love and hate entwined so intrinsically, plaiting together into one sharp-edged, life-consuming feeling.”
~ Tess
